Welcome to the Jonathan Browning Organization.
Jonathan Browning was born October 22, 1805 on the family farm located on the Brushy Fork of Bledsoe Creek in Sumner County, Tennessee.
He repaired is first gun at age 14. At age 19 he because a gunsmith apprentice in Nashville, TN. He married Elizabeth Stalcup in 1823, 12 years later in 1835 he moved his family to Illinois. During the year of 1846 he left Illinois with Mormon pioneers. He stayed in Council Bluff, Iowa area until 1852; he migrated to Utah that year. Two years after arriving in Utah, he married Sarah Ann Emmett. Then in 1859 he married Elizabeth Caroline Clark. He past away in Ogden, Utah at the age of 73 in 1879.
Jonathan is the father of John M Browning - the great gun inventor - and thus the Browning name is well known throughout Utah, America, and the world.
Jonathan had twenty-two children and two step-children. We have identified about 5,000 decendants.
